We started this project in April this year. The existing area was damaged as it was used for site offices and storage for a construction project that was carried out at the school. We installed concrete spoon drains along one side and one end of the sportsfield and shaped to slope to the drains. A six zone pop up irrigation system was installed to water the area which is supplied by a large underground water tank. We also installed a long jump pit with a cover. The turf are was just under 1000 square metres.


Step by step process undertaken:

 
• glyphosate application to the area to destroy all grass and weeds

• power harrow & rotary hoe the entire area

• levelled the area close to finishing heights

• construct concrete spoon drains on two sides for run off drainage

• installation of pop-up irrigation system throughout followed by testing of the system

• final level to desired finishing heights

• installation of Kikuyu turf followed by rolling
